Car-bound audience and drummer on fire. Mirai – Live Drum Cam: “Otchi”
4. September 2020 / Jarda Sivák / TRX Cymbals

Šimon of Mirai is simply a drumming maniac. If your heart burns with passion for drumming, somewhere there must be flames. And indeed there were. Live.

During the tightest corona-virus restrictions Mirai refused to stay at home. They just had to get out and play for people. But how with social distance regulation in force? They came up with the idea of drive-in gigs and got to work.

The concept was simple – build the stage and let the cars in. People would stay contained in their four-wheeled jam jars and would tune in using their radios. It was supposed to be a local experiment of sorts, but the two sold-out nights in Ostrava were such a great experience for both the band and fans that they decided to move it on to Brno.

Live Drum Cam of the song Otchi was shot in Brno and Šimon once again showed what it looks like when a drummer gets on fire, this time literally. Lights, fog and confetti are all quite common at concerts, but burning drum sticks were a proper eye-opener.

Who cares if Šimon got burnt a couple of times during these drive-in events. Rock’n’roll requires sacrifices. Watch the video and find out what it looks like when a drummer burns with passion for drumming.
